Pebble Smartwatch

  • Sought: $100,000.
  • Raised: $10,266,845 with 68,929 backers.

The Pebble Smartwatch is so far the most successful crowdfunding project to date, which isn’t much of a surprise when you look at the numbers–that’s 10 million! The concept began with Eric Migicovsky, who was having difficulty collecting the sufficient amount of funds necessary to produce and ship the product.  The campaign started on April 11, 2012 and in six days it had smashed the record for most funded by a Kickstarter project with 4.7 million raised, and 30 days still left to participate. People were enticed with the reward of being promised a Pebble Smartwatch given you donated at least $99. As of July 4th, 2013, they have delivered 85,000 units.
